I compared 18 high-yield money market accounts to find the highest rates after fees. I look at Vanguard, Fidelity, iShares, Schwab and SPDR. I compared both mutual fund money market accounts as well as money market ETFs. Vanguard had several winners in various categories. I seperated the categories to Treasury only, Government Obligations and Corp / Govt with the least risky being treasuries only. Which US Government money market ETF is best? I look at TFLO, SGOV and USFR. They all offer the safety of US Treasuries but with added flexibility of being able to buy and sell like a stock all for a very small fee. It seems like it is a toss-up between TFLO and USFR but I would say that I do prefer USFR after looking at the interest payments. The interest payments for USFR are much more uniform.
